iKnow! App Reviews

Keep coming back to the beloved app!

Although Anki runs a close second here, for a beginner clawing their way to intermediate this app is the Vocabulary Master Trainer! Ill use Anki for custom list (particles etc.), but for second to none well made flash cards with native audio and EASY to use Anki/SRS goodness, this app wins hands down. Easily worth the minor subscription fee. Ill happily pay to have Iknow curate and expand this app. Also, check out the Japan Times Genki apps as well, those are excellent. Especially if youre studying using Genki textbooks.

Best Japanese learning app for vocabulary

If you want to learn vocabulary, this is the most sophisticated and comprehensive way to learn.

Use this app

After using this app for two months, I was able to easily make it through a full year of Japanese vocabulary at my university! Would recommend for vocabulary studies!

Love it!

The interface is very clean and functional, and I truly believe that this app is helping me to learn Japanese. Ive tried many other apps, programs, and sites, but iKnow is much more affective, and it really works for me!

すごい!

This app was perfect for helping in my Japanese studies. It is basically an audio and visual flash card app for Japanese, Chinese, or advanced English but now there is no hassle in organizing or making the flash cards and it has an excellent course that covers the 6000 most used used in sections. It even allows you to make your own customized courses if you want to.

Best Solution for Intermediate Japanese

If youre looking for the best service available for learning Japanese, youve just found it. iKnow focuses on teaching Japanese by utility- all of the phrases that are taught are useful. Expect your ability to read Kanji to skyrocket, while your comprehension skills do the exact same.

Excellent for developing vocabulary and reading skills

I find IKnows approach to be very logical and motivating, and its a great fit for my needs (low-intermediate, with a decent grasp of grammar but limited vocabulary and kanji knowledge). I highly recommend it for learners at all levels.

The definitive study guide

Ive been searching for an app that helps keep me motivated with increasingly difficult grammar and vocabulary, and I finally found it. Its really a one-stop solution for learning grammar through spaced repetition and the interface is SOOO good and pleasant to interact with. Been using for a month and love it.

Great app, fast updates!

Love the service, and the app is super useful ! New app versions out quick, very impressed with the effort. Keep them coming!

Excellent Study Tool

It uses various examples from teaching words, seeing them used in a sentence, and then having you apply yourself, by sounding out the words and typing them in. It uses an SRS(spaced repetition system) to improve your recall ability so that you never forget the words. What I personally love about this app is how accessible it is. Either on the computer or on your phone you can practice and review anywhere at anytime. And hearing the audio is just amazing. They are actually very good examples and very practical. If you take the time to work with this app it will work for you and you will notice and see improvements. The app also displays metrics to show you how well you know a word based on how fast and accurately you answer. Your first 5 sessions are free, so what do you have to lose? I personally paid for a year membership and its totally worth it. Ive been studying Japanese for past 2 years and been looking for a fresh study method and this is it!

why did word shadowing disappear?

now we can only hear complete sentences and cannot do shadowing only for words. please fix!

iKnow is a great tool for Japanese Vocabulary

iKnow and Wanikani are my two most used Japanese learning tools. iKnow is great! Lots of valuable vocab and hearing everything out loud helps my overall listening skills a lot. Sentence Trainer is an awesome for helping me hammer out the details of grammar.

One of the best language learning app

Great audio, rich vocab, useful example sentences, many ways to quiz yourself, sentence builder function, works offline. This app is great for self-learning!

Best one

If you have been through all of the apps and cant find a good one to learn Japanese on you need to get this. Theres a free 5 session trial so when you use those all up you have to start paying. If you can afford it go for it cause it will be the best investment you will have on these apps.
